Role of the FASS IT TeamPurposeThe FASS-IT Team's role is to provide an added value service to the Faculty members, building on the support provided by Information Systems Services (ISS). The centralised IT support within FASS should enable closer harmony of faculty departments' IT structure and allow them to benefit from 'savings' of scale. The team will also enable support from ISS to be more focused and sensitive to the issues of departments and individuals. What We DoThe FASS-IT was formed in May 2001 originally to provide support in Social Sciences. It now provides extended cover to FASS. It is a small group that has a set of complementary skills to provide wide cover, support and advice to Faculty members. The team has strong links to ISS by being part of the User Services Group within ISS. What We Don't DoThe team apologises but it cannot support personal IT equipment or deal with personal IT issues. Who We AreGraeme Hughes - Head of FASS-IT TeamLocation: LUTV, Roundhouse, B6 Graeme is Head of the FASS-IT Team and provides software and systems support. He is involved in advice on purchasing and is a member of the Faculty's IT Committee. He also provides cover where possible for the other members of the team. Rob Griffiths, Andy Taylor, Vince Haworth - Senior TechniciansLocation: County South, A5. Rob, Andy, Vince and David provide hardware and software fault support and also carry out maintenance and installation. They have strong links with the technician team within ISS. Rob also supports the PiNE degree programme in Educational Research. Alison Sharman - Web Support OfficerLocation:Institute for Advanced Studies, County South, C06. Alison provides advice and support for development of web sites and conferencing facilities. Her main interest lies in the development of IT based teaching materials. She has strong links with the Learning Technology Group within CELT. ContactIT faults and general job request should be directed through the ISS staff help desk. Faculty faults reported to the central help desk will be automatically passed on to Faculty IT support staff. |
