Christopher Carman joined the department as the John Anderson Senior Research Lecturer in Policy Change and Civil Governance in March 2007. He has previously taught at theUniversityofGlasgowand the University of Pittsburgh (USA).Main InterestsThe intersection of political institutions and public opinion. In addition to examining the mechanisms of political representation, he is interested in participatory democracy and policies designed to increase mass political engagement. Christopher's research interests span several political systems includingScotland, theUnited Kingdomand theUnited States.
