Jenn AshworthLecturer in Creative Writing Department: English and Creative Writing Current TeachingI teach on the campus MA, and the undergraduate CREW 203 and 303 units. I also supervise postgraduate research. Research InterestsJenn Ashworth studied English at Cambridge and Creative Writing at Manchester. Her first novel, A Kind of Intimacy is a first person account of a life gone wrong. It was published by Arcadia in 2009 and won a Betty Trask Award in 2010. Her second novel, Cold Light, was published by Sceptre in 2011. She has also written and published numerous short stories - some online. Her best is in the anthology Paint a Vulgar Picture: Fiction Inspired by the Smiths. Jenn also has an interest in online storytelling and collaborative performance projects. Her blog, Every Day I Lie A Little won an MLF award in 2008 and her latest collaborative project, Station Stories, was set in Manchester Piccadilly train station. Potential Doctoral ProposalsFiction - the novel / short story collections. I am particularly interested in projects that engage with a 'sense of place' (including the no-place of cyberspace), first person fiction and the instability / unreliability this mode of story-telling engenders, that cross over with memoir and autobiographical writing, or use epistolary forms. LDS fiction, fiction and religion.
