Research ToolsLancaster University LinksLibraryThe FASS Subject Librarians - Louise Tripp and Andy Holgate - are both available for one-to-one sessions if any help is needed with searching for journal articles and further research (including Citation Indexes for Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities).
StatisticsThe Lancaster University Statistical Advisory Service is provided by members of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Any member of University staff and any Lancaster PhD student is entitled to free statistical advice concerning their research programme. Typical requests include help with the design of studies and the number of experimental units to observe, the analysis and interpretation of study data, the identification and use of appropriate statistical software, and the expression of statistical findings in reports and papers. Most enquiries lead to advice on how you should proceed in applying suitable statistical procedures: this is not a data analysis service. Some more complex problems lead to joint research (and joint publication) with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, in which the adviser does become involved in developing or modifying existing methods or helping with the implementation of novel approaches.
Once a request has been made, data and documents can be uploaded to the RT website. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics also provides an extensive series of short courses in statistical methods and associated computer software. A full list and booking information can be found at: http://shortcourses.maths.lancs.ac.uk. OtherExternal Links
