Kevin Watson & Lynn Clark give invited talk at University of York

Kevin Watson and Lynn Clark gavea guest lectureat the University of York. The talk was called 'Sociolinguistic and cognitive linguistic approaches to northern English t-to-r', and the focus wasthe phenomenon in which /t/ can be pronounced as [r] (e.g. 'gerrof', 'shurrup') in certain northern English dialects. The talk presentedpart of their ongoing research into north-western accents, a project which is funded by the ESRC.
