Thesis Working Title

Fabricated and Induced Illness in Children

Research Interests

I am currently undertaking research into Fabricated and Induced Illness (FII) in Children. The overarching aim of the research is to elicit insights that will contribute to both the response to and management of FII in social work practice. The work will also be of broader interest to agencies of health and the judiciary. In particular, the study aims to elicit important details about the variance of cases labelled FII.It is envisaged that the findings will assist social workers and Team Managers to produce robust and differentiated care plans for children were FII is an issue and thus, impact positively on child protection trajectories. It is hoped that the findings of the research will directly inform policy and procedure with regards to care planning for children and the identification of FII.

Current Teaching

I currently work full time as a social worker in a 'Child Protection and Court Team', based in Lancashire.
