Community LinksThe Department has strong links with local historical and archaeological societies across the region. Members of staff are actively involved in the following societies: Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian & Archaeological Society: Angus Winchester served as President, 2002-2005; Keith Stringer is a Vice-President. Friends of Cumbria Archives: Michael Winstanley is a committee member. Lorton & Derwentfells Local History Society: Angus Winchester is founding Honorary President. Cumbria County History Trust, the body promoting the revival of research for the Victoria County History in Cumbria. Keith Stringer is the University's representative on the body of trustees; Angus Winchester directs the Victoria County History of Cumbria project. North Craven Heritage Trust: has offered bursary support to MA students working on the history of the North Craven area.
