Medical Mobilities Reading Group

Date: 17 July 2015 Time: 4.00 pm

Venue: Kitchen space near B47 Bowland North

After discovering some shared interests in mobilities perspectives on medicine and healthcare at the CeMoRe Away Day last month, a few of us have decided to establish a research node in Medical Mobilities in order to create a more formal structure to share insights and resources, and to find potential collaborations. A major part of this will be our biweekly reading group, which will be tackling readings around mobile theories and methods as applied to philosophies and practices of medicine, and to systems of health care (and around any related topics that might emerge from our discussions!).

We will be having our first meeting of the reading group this Friday, July 17th at 4p.m. GMT (physical location TBD). Below is a link to this week’s reading, Steven Shapin’s “Discipline and Bounding: The History and Sociology of Science As Seen Through the Externalism-Internalism Debate,” which has some nice intersections with conversations that took place during the mobile situations workshop a couple of weeks ago.
