MA in History

The MA programme is designed to foster the study of history at an advanced level and to develop skills which can be transferred into professions outside the university or which may form the basis of further research.

The MA programme draws on the considerable breadth of expertise in the department in terms of chronological breadth, methodology and geographical scope. The programme encourages students to pursue their own particular historical interests through a set of taught modules as they move towards the authorship of a substantial dissertation.

The programme and a range of activities within the department support the creation of a lively and stimulating student experience. In addition to taught modules and supervision, the department encourages MA students to attend research seminars, conferences, training events, reading groups and social events run by the department.

How to apply for the MA in History
