Jonathan Gledhill successfully defends thesisDate: 12 May 2009 Congratulations to Jonathan Gledhill, postgraduate in the Department of History, for successfully defending his thesis on 'Political Society in South-Eastern Scotland, 1094-1434'. The project considered the effects of ethnicity, locality and tenure on a local political society, and emphasises the role of the baronage in the organisation and governance of a region in Scotland. Dr Sandy Grant was Jonathan's supervisor, and the thesis was examined by Professor Keith Stringer and Dr Steve Boardman.
