Undergraduate History Introduction
We offer programmes in History, Modern European History, Medieval and Renaissance Studies and Social History. You can also combine History with other subjects - English Literature, Politics, Philosophy, International Relations, Religious Studies, Music, French, German or Spanish. Our degrees are divided into Part I (first year) and Part II (second and third year). At Part I you study a core course which gives you a wide ranging introduction to world history from the medieval to the modern, and develops the core research skills you will need for the rest of your degree.
At Part II you can choose from a wide range of options: whether it's the Crusades, the Enlightenment, Nazi Germany or modern America you are interested in, you can study it at Lancaster. In the third year, History majors write an independent research dissertation and do an intensive 'special subject'.
