In 2001 he graduated from the University of Nottingham with an LLM in International Human Rights Law where he went on to complete his PhD thesis in the area of International Law and Human Rights. Before joining Lancaster University in 2005 he tutored undergraduates in International Law at the University of Nottingham and taught postgraduates, professionals and civil servants on the Human Rights Short Course at the University of Nottingham's Human Rights Centre. He teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the area of International Human Rights Law, International Law and European Law. His research interests include: International Law, Human Rights, International Relations, the role of Non-Governmental Organisations, the European Union. From 2009-2010 he was seconded to the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights as a legal researcher and adviser.
