AffiliationsTom is conducting research into public law, particularly the theory of constitutionalism, and the use of complexity theory (a systems theory) as a critical device in law. In addition to this Tom has also written on the theory of autopoiesis.
Research InterestsPublic law (theory of constitutionalism, sovereignty, globalisation, public law and realism, public law and interpretivism), systems theory thinking (complexity theory, autopoiesis, chaos theory, ANT), administrative law (tribunal system, immigration & asylum and mental health tribunals). In addition to his role in the Law School, Tom is also a member of Cartmel College SCR where he holds the position of Praelector (Vice-Dean).
