LLM/MA Environment and the Law

 This joint programme with the Lancaster Environment Centre is intended to appeal to students who wish to study the environmental aspects of law or the legal regulation of the environment at master’s level.

The programme has a flexible pathway of study which will define the classification of the final award with either an LLM or MA . Students take three modules from Law and three modules from the Lancaster Environment Centre as well as a dissertation.
 
LLM Pathway:
Total credits 185

Core Course Modules

  • GEOG Perspectives on Environment and Development (15 Credits)
  • LLM 100 Dissertation in a Law Subject area (20,000 words - 80 credits)

With either one or both:

 

The remaining Law option(s) (all 20 credits) can be chosen from the following:

The remaining two LEC modules (all 15 credits) can be chosen from the following:
(Please note the availability of modules varies from year to year)

  • BIOL 420   Food security, Agriculture and Climate Change
  • ENV 432    Chemical Risk Assessment
  • ENV   457   Air Pollution and Climate
  • GEOG 415   Environmental Justice
  • GEOG 421   Sustainable Water management: Concepts, Governance and practice
  • LEC 429     Climate Change and Society

MA/MSc Pathway:
Total credits  185

  • GEOG 410   Perspectives on Environment and Development (15 credits)
