LLM in International Human Rights and the Environment


 This joint programme with the Lancaster Environment Centre is intended to appeal to students who wish to study the environmental aspects of law and human rights or the legal regulation of the environment through human rights at master’s level.

The programme has a flexible pathway of study which will define the classification of the final award with either an LLM or MA. Students take three modules from Law and three modules from the Lancaster Environment Centre as well as a dissertation.
 
LLM Pathway:
Total credits 185

Core Modules:

  • GEOG 410   Perspectives on Environment and Development (15 credits)
    LLM    100   Dissertation in a law subject area  (20,000 words – 80 credits)

With either one or both:      

 

 

The third Law core may be selected from one of the following :

The remaining 20 credit Law option may be chosen from the following:

The remaining two 15 credit core LEC modules  may be chosen from the following.:

  • BIOL   420   Food security, Agriculture and Climate Change
  • ENV    432   Chemical Risk Assessment
  • ENV    457   Air Pollution and Climate
  • GEOG 415   Environmental Justice
  • GEOG 421    Sustainable Water management: Concepts, Governance and practice
  • LEC     429   Climate Change and Society
