Graduated 2007 LLM in International Law and International Relations

Having completed an LL.B in Law I was interested in furthering my knowledge of International Law but also being able to explore the different perceptions of law at an international level. The LL.M/MA in International Law and International Relations provided this opportunity for me by allowing a further exploration of International Law with modules such as International Law and Terrorism and War Crimes Trials but also by giving me the chance to look at the law in context and gain an understanding of how differing International Relations Theories viewed the rule of law and the impact State relations can have on the Law. The cross departmental nature of the course also allowed for interaction with students from the department of Politics and International Relations, further enhancing the learning experience and the opportunities for debate.

The wide ranging appeal of Lancaster University with international students also appealed to me as by working with students from, quite literally, all over the world, you have the chance to learn from your peers about law in different cultures and the perceptions of different events and legal issues.

The excellent reputation of the Law School for research was also an important factor for me in choosing to come to Lancaster . Knowing that when writing the dissertation I would have the privilege to work with and be supervised by some outstanding academics who are highly respected in their fields seemed like too good an opportunity to miss.

The Postgraduate administration team are also really helpful in dealing with any enquiries or problems you have and made the whole application process and the LL.M year itself that much easier.
