LAW 102: Public Law

(Half unit taught in 1st term)

This module will introduce students to the principle features of the UK constitutional order, judicial review of executive action and the Human Rights Act. A contextual approach is adopted which entails drawing upon historical, political, sociological and jurisprudential materials. The course will constantly question whether law acts a 'real' regulator of the legitimacy of government or as a symbolic one.
