Law 300 - Health Care Law and Ethics(Full unit) ConvenorsProf Hazel Biggs/Dr Sara Fovargue/Dr Suzanne Ost Health care law has become an area of increasing importance not only to legal and health care practitioners but also to academics and the wider public. In Term 1 we consider such topics as health care ethics, rights to health care, autonomy and consent, informed decision making, and regulating health care professionals. Within these areas medico-legal and ethical implications are explored. During Term 2 specific areas of health care law and practice are examined. Topics may vary from year to year but are likely to include areas such as abortion, embryo research, assisted reproduction, death and dying, and organ and tissue donation and transplantation. (This course is available to final year students only).
