Law 320 - Principles of Employment Law(half unit in 1st term) ConvenorProf Geraint Howells THIS COURSE IS SUBJECT TO SENATE APPROVAL. Course aims: To give an understanding of how the law regulates employment relationships within the context of the British industrial relations system. The syllabus may include, but not be limited to; The development of Employment Law; Sources and institutions of Employment Law; Employment Law and human rights; The Employment Relationship; The role of the 'contract of employment'; Formation of the relationship; Discipline and Termination of Employment; Statutory protection from dismissal; Redundancy; Unfair dismissal. Books may be published before the course starts so students may wish to wait until the Law 320 Course Handbook has been published, which will include the latest information on books, before purchasing a text. |
