The reason Lancaster appealed to me was innovation: unlike some universities, it is not tied down by tradition or compelled to retain practices for their own sake. Almost all aspects of the university, and the Law School, from teaching styles to assessments is forward thinking and inventive.

The Law programme is very challenging and it forces you to form a deeper understanding of law - there is a definite focus on acquiring deeper understanding here, rather than simply memorizing "rules".

One of the things I've greatly enjoyed working on this year is the Lancaster University Innocence Project. Innocence Projects look into miscarriages of justice, examining cases where people on life sentences protest their innocence. We look into the trials and evidence trying to discover whether they do seem to be innocent and if there are grounds for an appeal, and the work is deeply interesting and rewarding.

Lancaster University's an interesting place. It's a friendly and accepting environment, and I'm really enjoying it here.
