Research Award: The European Court of Human Rights and EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, 2012Date: 6 May 2012 Professor David Sugarman is member of a consortium of academics, judges and practitioners awarded the contract to prepare a Handbook on Case-Law covering the fields of Asylum, Immigration and Border Control in the European Contextby the European Court of Human Rights and EU Agency for Fundamental Rights. The contract, which was awarded as a consequence of competitive tender, is to produce a practical learning tool for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law-enforcement officials, and others involved in giving legal advice, such as national human rights institutions and legal advice centres, to whom it will be distributed. The Handbook of around 100 pages and to be published in 2012 will analyse key principles as developed by the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, as well as relevant national case law, in the fields of asylum, immigration and border control. It will eventually be available in almost all EU languages as well as Croatian.
