This module covers; the role of consultants in the arts, the project lifecycle, understanding the client organisation, managing client relationships, communicating with the press, report writing, marketing and audience segmentation, networking, tendering for work and writing funding bids.

  • Lectures: 1x 2 hour seminar per week
  • Assessment: 100% coursework (Proposal/Report)

Aims and Outcomes

This module aims to:

  • Develop students' understanding of the theories and concepts relevant to the consultancy process
  • Familiarise students with the role of a consultant and in the arts
  • Enable students to understand the issues facing arts organisations
  • Develop students' understanding of the complex relationships that need to be managed during the consulting process

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the theories and concepts relevant to the consultancy process
  • Take on the role of a consultant in the arts
  • Address and manage relationships with the client organisation and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the issues facing arts organisations
