Music Technology at Lancaster

At Lancaster we emphasize creative practice in music technology, and within such practice we encourage experimentation and risk-taking. Our aim is to produce informed practitioners: composers, artists and technologists, who are knowledgeable about the contemporary arts and who are able to design and realize creative projects that make critical use of technology.

The practices of studio/fixed media composition, live performance with electronics, music for video and theatre productions as well as practice involving other, related forms of multi- and interdisciplinary work may be pursued in undergraduate and postgraduate schemes, the latter at both Master's and PhD level.

Staff have international profiles in creative practice or research in music technology and this informs their teaching, bringing elements of contemporary research into the curriculum. Teaching and learning resources include a lab and composition studios with 24/7 access.
