Speaker: Felipe Otondo, Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts, Lancaster University.
Venue: Lancaster University, Jack Hylton Room.
Title: Artaud's Fulminating Sonic Order.
Artaud's Fulminating Sonic Order
This seminar is based on a devised dance-theatre piece inspired by Artaud's radio-theatre work 'To have done with the Judgment of God, created in collaboration with Base Theatre for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2007. I will introduce some of Artaud's ideas related to sound, the background behind the conception of his radio-theatre piece and also describe some of the ideas on which our devised work 'To have done with the judgment of Artaud' was based. Finally, I will introduce some of my own compositional ideas related to the use of sound, movement and space which we used in the devised piece and outline plans for future developments. More information about the piece can be found at: http://www.otondo.net/dance.htm
