PALATINE

PALATINE is the Higher Education Academy Subject Centre for Dance, Drama and Music. Established at Lancaster in 2000, following the university's successful bid to the HE funding councils, PALATINE is hosted by LICA and its Director is Gerry Harris, Professor of Theatre Studies.

PALATINE's primary role as a national subject centre is to support and enhance learning and teaching in performing arts disciplines in higher education across the UK.

A strong research and development ethos underpins and shapes the support that we give to our communities of practice. We work with individuals, departments, institutions and subject associations; we provide focused access to resources; we organise events to bring people together to share effective practice in teaching and learning; we both fund and carry out projects to develop knowledge and understanding; and we advise HE policy makers on future initiatives to enhance the contribution that our disciplines' graduates make to the global community.
