In July 2008, Prof. Sara Mills, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the International Gender and Language Association, organised the IGALA Book prize 2008. The winner of the first book prize for the most outstanding gender and language book for 2008 was: Marjorie Harness Goodwin's "The Hidden Life of Girls", Blackwell, 2006.
