Research Interests

Professor David Denver specialises in studying elections and also has a research interest in Scottish politics. He is the author of a widely used text on electoral behaviour (Elections and Voters in Britain) and of numerous other pieces on the subject. Among other positions held, he is the Chair of the editorial board of the Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties and Chair of the publications subcommittee of the Political Studies Association.

David is a nationally known figure in his field - frequently commenting on matters connected with elections in the press, radio and television, especially in Scotland. In his spare time David sings in the university choir and plays golf.

Research Grants Recent research funding has included awards from the Electoral Commission to study the North East regional referendum (2004) and constituency campaigning in the 2005 general election, and from the ESRC to work on a compilation of local election results in Britain.
