Who am I? Some answers from classical Hindu thought

Date: 2 December 2010 Time: 2.00 pm

Venue: Barnard's Inn Hall

HALF DAY CONFERENCE

Professor Chakravarthi Ram-Prasad, Lancaster University, Professor Jonardon Ganeri, University of Sussex

Based on texts of the Indian tradition, we will discuss questions regarding self, and seek to relate some of the philosophical ideas to contemporary debates. Can the self be defended against Buddhist claims that there is no such thing? Some of the ideas drawn from the Indian traditions could provide illuminating alternatives and comparisons. Presentations will be interspersed with question-and-answer sessions, followed by more open discussion with an eye to drawing out responses and thoughts on the material presented.

(The event will end at approximately 5.30pm)

Admission is free but reservations are required.
