The Politics of 'Empire', 'Mission' and 'Caste' in Indian ChristianityDate: 24 October 2012 Time: 4.00-6.00 pm Venue: FASS Meeting Room 3 The Politics of 'Empire', 'Mission' and 'Caste' in Indian Christianity Dr Anderson Jeremiah,Lancaster University Anderson Jeremiah earned his Ph.D from New College, University of Edinburgh. He is an Anglican Priest with the work experience in the Church of South India and Scottish Episcopal Churches. His areas of academic interest include Christian Theology in Asia, Contextual Theologies, Dalit Studies, History of Christianity, Modern Missionary Movements, Inculturation, Recent trends in World Christianity, Postcolonial Approaches in Biblical Hermeneutics and Theology, Globalisation and Christianity, Liberation Theology, Encounter between Christianity and other Religions, Inter-Faith Understanding, Religious fundamentalism and Caste Politics in South East Asia, and Popular understanding of Hinduism and Buddhism. His recent research in collaboration with local churches in UK includes: "Traditions in Conflict: the impact of immigrant-based churches on traditional church bodies in the UK", "Conflict, consultation and cooperation in the Anglican communion", "The Changing 'Colour' of World Christianity: understanding the trends in the modern growth and expansion of Christianity".
