Information for International StudentsDegrees and DiplomasDepartment accepts most diplomas issued abroad provided that they are comparable with appropriate British degrees. However, all applicants must send officially certified copy of their diploma and transcript from every institution of post-secondary study. English Language QualificationsIf your first language is not English, the University must be satisfied that you have sufficient ability to understand and express yourself in both written and spoken English. is normally expected. TOEFL will be considered, provided that a score of at least 580 is obtained. The University's Institute for English Language Education provides pre-sessional courses open to international students who are registered for a degree programme at Lancaster (or at any university of college in Britain). The courses, for which a tuition charge is made, are held in the July-September period each year, leading up to the beginning of University academic year in October. Students who may have difficulty with English are strongly recommended to join these pre-sessional courses before beginning their post-graduate programmes.
