International Expert Symposium

The project will lead up to a high-level International Expert Symposium (Autumn 2010) to finalise a set of principles of extraterritorial human rights obligations related to economic, social and cultural rights. These principles will be of an authoritative nature, aimed at the assisting the process of implementation of these rights, and will therefore address UN Human Rights bodies, national and international policy makers, the legal profession, the non-governmental community and academia.  They will be modelled on the successful principles developed at two earlier occasions in Maastricht: The Limburg Principles on the Implementation of the Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1986) and the Maastricht Guidelines on Violations of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1997).

More information about the Symposium will be provided as it becomes available.
