Members of the REAP team are involved in teaching and learning in the Department of Educational Research's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as delivering staff development and sessions for adults and young people within the community.

Undergraduate Teaching

BSc Hons Psychology in Education

The Psychology of Education degree is a unique degree which will give you the opportunity to study Psychology in the exciting and varied field of Education. You will learn how to apply psychological theories and ideas in a real-life context and gain valuable skills which will prepare you for a wide range of careers.

Teaching and Learning in the Community

By working in partnership with community groups REAP develop and deliver culturally relevant sessions. Currently the focus is on equality and diversity issues and sessions to support family learning about educational progression and higher education.

Youth Re: action Team (YRAT) REAP are acting as consultants to a group of upper secondary school students from Barrow-in-Furness who are researching local people's views of the regeneration of their town.

Staff development

We also work with practitioners and teachers offering staff development to enable them to work more effectively with families. See the Aimhigher Lancashire Families web pages

Previous activity

In the past we have delivered a range of access level courses that were based on one of the four foundation credit frameworks. These courses had four goals:

  • to be culturally or socially relevant and useful
  • to give credit to different forms of knowledge and skills
  • to move people onto higher level study through staged progression
  • to provide new insights and knowledge about learning amongst socially excluded groups

Although this accreditation opportunity is not currently available we have experience of working with others to adopt some of the principles which we feel are necessary to achieve these goals.
