Task E - how does clausal nesting work?

Let's first of all take a simple sentence.

What is the SPOCA structure of the following sentence? After you have worked it out, compare your analysis with ours.

John came round at tea time

S	P	A	A
John \|	came \|	round \|	at tea time

Now compare our analysis of 'John came round at tea time' with:

S	P	A	???
John \|	came \|	round \|	when it was time for tea.

How would you analyse 'when it was time for tea'? When you have worked out your answer, compare your thoughts with ours.
