Daily routine while writing Modern Painters I

There is no evidence relating to the daily routine of the writing of Modern Painters I, although it seems likely that Ruskin 's habit of reading the previous day's passage of Modern Painters II to his admiring parents after breakfast - his father even being reduced to tears - had been established earlier ( Works, 35.415). John James Ruskin 's influence on Modern Painters I was certainly considerable. It appears, however, that Ruskin's 'first editor', William Henry Harrison, was not yet part of the domestic editorial team for Modern Painters I. (See period of composition of Modern Painters I.)
