Chen Liu is a second year PhD student. He is a graduate of Nanjing University (China) and Lancaster University (UK). He has BA and MA in Sociology and a MSc in Applied Social Statistics. Before starting his PhD, he worked on a project on the influence of the Chinese diaspora in the UK for the Lancaster China Management Centre, and spent two years teaching social statistics at Jiangsu Normal University, China. His main interests are in internal and international migration, their influence and social integration. He is also interested in the comparison of qualitative and quantitative research methods in social science.
