MA or MSc Environment, Culture and Society

Relaunched in collaboration with the Lancaster Environment Centre for 2013.

This MA, established in 1996, has been acclaimed as the leading Masters course on environment and society in the UK.

This course brings together insights from sociology and geography, bringing together cutting edge social, cultural and environmental theories and approaches. The program gives new meanings to the notion of 'sustainability' in a fast-changing world, and recognises that finding new ways to lever societal transformation also requires an understanding the dynamics of environmental and earth processes. MA Media and Cultural Studies

The MA in Media and Cultural Studies provides students with the skills to engage critically with the key issues and debates in contemporary media and cultural theory. The programme is suitable for graduates with backgrounds in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines, as well as those coming to this field for the first time. It offers an excellent stepping stones to academic reserach. This is not a vocational or practice-based degree. Centre for Social Studies, Warsaw

Since 1995,  Lancaster University and the Centre for Social Studies (CSS) in Warsaw have been collaborating in the delivery of the MA programme in Social Studies. The CSS was established in Warsaw to act as the sociology department of the Central European University following the disbandment of the CEU's Prague campus. Over the years the partnership with Lancaster has enabled the CSS to establish a reputation for quality, with course consultants from the University ensuring that developments at the Centre are informed by best practice in UK universities.
