Basically, Lancaster’s amazing! The campus is about the safest place ever and the porters who look after us are lovely, they will in time come to be your substitute Granddads. There’s always something going on and no matter what college you’re in you will definitely have great social events (although County IS the best). The city centre is great for shopping and nights out and there’s a club or bar to suit almost everyone’s taste! Its also nice being on a campus since your basically living in a society of people just like you. The Media and Cultural studies course is great as it’s so diverse and with loads of varied modules to choose from you get the chance to explore a range of media from all around the world. From home grown British cinema to Japanese horror and mainstream Hollywood to the more, let’s say, experimental avant-garde there’s really something for everyone. Although watching a film that consists of 40 minutes of flashing lights may test even the true media buffs. We tend to focus more on the theoretical side of media on the course and the links between theory and practice but there are millions of opportunities in the course and on campus to explore the practical side of Media. Lancaster even produces its own drama series “Universal” which is shown on the universities TV station. What really makes Lancaster stand out to me (and hopefully to you) is how friendly it is. The Media staff are really helpful and are always trying to make the course as interesting as possible. And further to that everyone knows interesting people do media so the students are always fun. I’m ashamed to say some of my funniest moments at uni have happened in my 9am lectures. Basically come here and do Media. You’ll have the time of your life! |
