Teacher Days

At the beginning of the academic year, the Sociology department will hold a one day workshop for Sociology and Media and Cultural Studies teachers. This event aims to consolidate the links between the Department and schools mainly in the North and North West of England. At the teachers day there is an opportunity to find out about new developments in the discipline and also request for ‘master classes’ in areas of the curriculum which are difficult to deliver in school.

We have been running these teachers' days since October 2007 and are planning to open up a secure forum where teachers can:

  • Share resources for the delivery of the sociology and media curriculum (mainly AS and A2).
  • Exchange experience and offer peer support and advice to other teachers.
  • Act as a lobby group, for example in approaching exam board for information about marking criteria.
