Open Days

If we make you a conditional offer for one of our degree schemes we will invite you to a departmental Open Day.

That way you can experience what the Department of Sociology and Lancaster University has to offer, as well as making sure that our degree scheme is the right one for you.

Open days for 2013/14 entry will take place on Wednesday 6th February, Wednesday 20th February and Saturday 16th March 2013.

Visit Days & Campus Tours

If you'd like to find out more about our degrees before you apply then why not attend one of the University's Visit Days, which this year take place on Wednesday 28th August and Saturday 21st September 2013 for entry in 2013/14.

Alternatively book a campus tour (some of which include a short 'Drop-in' to our Department). These tours run throughout the year.

Summer Schools

The University has an extensive outreach programme which includes school visits, academic masterclasses, and summer school residentials open to year 12 students. More information can be found on the Schools and College Liaison section of the University website.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Sixth Form Conference

The Sociology Department will be holding a sixth form conference aimed at AS & A-Level students to get a feel for our two degree programmes - BA (HONS) Media & Cultural Studies and BA (HONS) Sociology.

These 'taster' sessions are a great opportunity for students to find out first hand what studying a degree in the Lancaster University Faculity of Arts and Social Sciences is like.
