Uta Papen'spaper Commercial discourses, gentrification and citizens' protest: The linguistic landscape of Berlin (first published in February 2012) has been chosen as the opening article of a free virtual issue of the Journal of Sociolinguistics, edited by Allan Bell. The theme of the virtual issue 'Language in the City' parallels the 2012 Sociolinguistics Symposium.
