Hosted by the Department of Religious Studies, Lancaster University.

The Conference invites papers in the following three areas:

  • Gender and society in East Asian religions
  • Gender and spiritual praxis in South Asia
  • Gender and religious change in Southeast Asia

International speakers to include:

Monica Lindberg Falk (Goteborg University, Sweden), Hema Goonatilake (Centre for Women’s Research, Sri Lanka), Noriko Kawahashi (Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan), Ursula King (University of Bristol & SOAS, UK), Masakazu Tanaka (Kyoto University, Japan), Geoffrey Samuel (Cardiff University, Wales), Meenakshi Thapan (Delhi University, India) and many others.

Abstracts to be 250-300 words including title of paper and short biographical details should be sent to Katharine Moody.

Paper format to be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions.

Deadline for abstracts: Monday 14th August 2006
