The University’s ‘staging date’ for compliance with the legislation is 1st April 2013.

Briefingshave been held at PRCs, management and administrative groups across all Faculties and Services during February.

By the end of February, all current employees will have received a personal communication explaining how pension reform will affect them. Since the effect of pension reform will depend on individual circumstances, employees will receive one of the following:

AE1 Substantive contract (Grade 1-6) not a member
AE1a Substantive contract (Grade 7 & above) not a member
AE1b Substantive contract (The Work Foundation) not a member
AE2 Existing LGPS members
AE2a Existing USS members
AE2b Existing L&G members (The Work Foundation)
AE3 Casuals/Variable Hrs (monthly earnings equivalent Grades 1-6)
AE3a Casuals/Variable Hrs (monthly earnings equivalent Grades & or above)
AE For employees whose situation does not fall into any of the above categories, their letter will be tailored to their specific situation e.g. a returning retiree currently employed for teaching

All new employees whose contract of employment commences on or after 1st April 2013 will receive notification of workplace pension provision with their letter of engagement and contract of employment.
