Vitae
A vitally important source of information for Researchers can be accessed through Vitae. Vitae is a national organisation that champions the professional and career development of doctoral researchers and research staff in higher education institutions and research institutes.
You can find publications, information and guidance for research staff that will help you develop your employability and research skills, as well as tips on collaborative working and exploring your career options. Of particular relevance is the Researcher Development Framework, which is both a comprehensive description of the knowledge, behaviours and attributes of effective and highly skilled researchers, and a tool for planning your professional and career development.
Lancaster is part of the Vitae North West Hub which publishes a regional e-newsletter and occasional "glossy" PDF newsletter that you can access from here. It's worth having a look at these to find out what is happening regionally, such as some exciting careers events offered for the North West at other Universities, which also provide opportunities for networking with senior academics and Nobel prize winners.
Vitae Researcher Development International Conference 2012 was held in Manchester in early September. A report from the Conference by a Lancaster delegate can be found here.
