Lancaster’s International Teaching Partnerships

Orgainisation and Educational Development (OED) welcomed a a second group of colleagues from Sunway University, our partner institution in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on 25th February.
The purpose of the visit was primarily one of teacher development, with a particular focus on assessment setting, marking and moderation, and there was also an element of finding ways to enhance further joint research between Sunway and Lancaster colleagues.
The group spent three days with the Teaching Development team in OED, and two days within the faculties, meeting colleagues and observing classes and attending committee meetings. Face to face contact between colleagues in partner institutions is crucial to this kind of collaboration, and these annual visits are a way for Lancaster and Sunway academics to build relationships and in turn, enhance the collaborative process.
It is intended that there will one such visit each year from each of Lancaster’s partner institutions, not only from Malaysia, but also from GD Goenka World Institute in India, and COMSATS in Pakistan, as well as from Ghana and China in the near future.
Upwards of 40 people from the faculties and from professional services have worked with our visitors this week, helping to make their stay productive and enjoyable.
