The course content is split into 6 manageable units requiring one day's attendance each month:
Unit 1: Network Infrastructure Essentials
- Networking concepts, features, types of networks,
- Networking components, topologies and designs,
- Remote access components,
- Network protocols,
- TCP/IP and TCP/IP addressing.
Unit 2: Operating System Administration
- Network operating system functions,
- Routine tasks required to maintain a network,
- Creation of user and group accounts, and associated security,
- Automation of system administration.
Unit 3: Network Services
- DNS, DHCP and name resolution mechanisms,
- Connectivity components for foreign systems,
- Configuration of network protocols.
Unit 4: Network Security and Resource Availability
- Network security,
- Access permissions,
- Data encryption,
- Search mechanisms and DFS.
Unit 5: Introduction to Web Services
- Concepts and terminologies of web services,
- Setting up web servers,
- Web server administration and security,
- Methods of connecting and securing access to the internet.
Unit 6: Introduction to Printing, Troubleshooting and Data Protection
- Network printing setup and administration,
- Data Protection, RIPA, and Freedom of Information Act,
- Troubleshooting will include fault categories, methods and troubleshooting resources.
