Eduroam Certificate Change - 7th February 2012 

Why is the certificate changing?

On eduroam a certificate is used during the connection process to setup a secure communication tunnel between your device and the authentication server.

The current certificate is due to expire on 12th February 2012 and needs to be replaced.

What will be changing?

WHAT WILL CHANGE
Certificate Name (Common Name) The certificate name will be changing
  • from: jrs-radius02.lancs.ac.uk
  • to: network-auth.lancs.ac.uk
Certificate Issuer (Certification Authority) The certificate issuer will be changing
  • from: VeriSign Class 3 Secure Server CA
  • to: TERENA SSL CA

When will the change happen?

ISS will change the certificate on Tuesday 7th February 2012 at 7am.

What do I need to do once the change has happened?

Once ISS have replaced the certificate, you will need to reconnect to eduroam. The table below identifies the steps that you will need to take depending on your operating system.

WHAT TO DO AFTER 7AM ON FEBRUARY 7th ONCE THE CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN REPLACED
Windows 7 You will need to reconnect to eduroam.

Mac OS X
(10.6 and earlier)
You will need to edit your server trust settings so that the new certificate is trusted. This can be configured before the certificate changes on 7th February 2012 so that your eduroam connection will not be distrupted when the change happens.

No changes are needed. Your eduroam connection will automatically reconfigure once the certificate has been replaced.
