WINET service ‘lancaster’: Certificate Change - 20th March 2012 

Why is the certificate changing?

Authentication on the WINET 'lancaster' service is performed by a captive portal (web site). The web site uses SSL to establish an encrypted tunnel so the authentication process is protected.

The current certificate is due to expire on the 23rd March 2012 and needs to be replaced.

What will be changing?

WHAT WILL CHANGE
Certificate Issuer (Certification Authority) The certificate issuer will be changing
  • from: VeriSign Class 3 Secure Server CA
  • to: TERENA SSL CA

When will the change happen?

ISS will change the certificate on Tuesday 20th March 2012 at 7am.

What do I need to do once the change has happened?

Nothing really. Your web browser should be able to estalish that the server certificate is valid.
