Phishing Reminder
Phishing emails tempt you into sending your personal and financial details to an attacker in particular, many recent phishing emails refer to email
or webmail maintenance and request your details "to complete the upgrade". More information is available from here. Windows Updates Microsoft regularly issues updates and patches to fix bugs and plug 'security holes' in their operating systems. These security holes are used by worms, viruses and hackers to compromise your system. Many members of Lancaster University have Managed Windows PCs which are updated with Microsoft patches automatically. However, nearly all students and some staff do not. If you do not have automatic updates then you should update your computer manually on a regular basis. You can do this quickly and easily by following the instructions found on the ISS Windows update page. Once you have updated your PC in this way ISS recommned you get into the habit of repeating the exercise at least once per month to maintain the security and integrity of your PC. |
"At Risk" Periods Tuesdays 07:00 to 09:00 - 'Network at Risk' for Janet and Internet access. Wherever possible, at least 7 days notice is given of work during the Systems or Network 'at risk' periods. |
