Thursday 10 to Friday 11 March 2005 - Network Problems

During the night of 10th / 11th March, a major fault occurred in an important piece of equipment essential for the smooth running of the University network. As a direct consequence of this failure, the majority of the University Network was disrupted causing users great problems. The problem was identified and corrected as quickly as possible, however users found there remained a number of residual issues. An essential piece of equipment that caused the events detailed below was replaced. This action caused a temporary period of downtime for a number of users.
