During the Network at Risk period, ISS carried out work on the University network in the Great Hall (Music) Complex, Language Centre, ASH House, Bowland Hall (Art Department only), CETAD and Grizedale.
Work commenced at 7am and was completed by 9am.

Tue 13 Dec 2005 - Network Maintenance

During the network at risk period on Tuesday 13th December 2005, upgrade work was carried out in the Bowland College office. Network connectivity to rooms in the immediate area was intermittent between 07:00 and 10:00.

Thu 8 Dec 2005 - Network Problems

Update : 08:50 It appears that the network problems of yesterday may have re-emerged overnight, ISS engineers are investigating.
Update : 09:13 It appears there may have been a problem with the DHCP server that hands out addresses to networked machines. Anyone affected should restart their machine to allow it pick up a new address.

14:00 We experienced failure of our offsite connectivity - all internet web browsing, email etc. is affected by this problem. Update : 14:24 : The core router for the unversity campus suffered a software crash and needed resetting - all services should now have returned to normal.

Wed 7 Dec 2005 - Maintenance Work and Network Problems

The central print service was briefly unavailable between 2pm and 3pm for the application of security updates. In order to update the anti-virus software, the Domino server containing the LUVLE, My Modules, LU News and ISS room booking systems was unavailable between 2pm and 3pm.

15:30 There were network problems affecting several parts of campus for about half an hour.

Tue 6 Dec 2005 - Network Redesign

During the Network at Risk period between 7am and 9am on Tuesday 6th December, network redesign work took place in Fylde College and the Whewell building. Disruption to all network services was experienced during this time. See Network Redesign.

Mon 5 Dec 2005 - Sober Virus from the CIA Circulating

A varient of the 'Sober' virus is circulating. It features an email message which tries to frighten you into opening an infected attachment by telling you: "we have logged your IP-address on more than 28 illegal Websites." Symantec AntiVirus on our Exchange server is replacing the infected attachments with harmless warnings, but you should NOT open unsolicited attachments. See Info on Sober worm.
